I got my 1st. horse around that age, too. He lived to be 30…my shetland, who we got as a companion for King at the same time, was 35… When King was ready to lrave us, he laid down and went peacefully. The next thing that happened was, Ginger, minutes after King was gone, laid down and never got back up. Three days later she passed, also. They were together 30 yrs. So sorry for your loss.

Having lost my 31 year old mare a few months ago, I know how traumatic this is. But you can celebrate the wonderful times you had together, and the wonderful life you gave her. I’m sure she was a great gift in your life.

    Somewhere in time’s own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
    Some paradise where horses go,
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.

My deepest sympathies Stacey, we lost our 16 year old foxy dog this year, had her since she was 4 weeks old and went every where with us, so devasting, it is losing a family member, I dont sell horses very well due to the same problem. Would just love to say it was a great honour to meet you at the Sydney Equitana, I came home inspired and straight away got the cones out into the Shamrock pattern, I was the lady that warned you that your earring was half way to being lost, loll..I felt like a stalker as my husband and I followed you around to make sure we didnt miss any of your sessions. You finally had my penny dropping on quite a few things, I was and am so excited about what you were conveying. Thank you again and stay strong. Liz

  41. Helen Taylor on December 5, 2011 at 5:32 pm

Sorry to hear your news. I lost my ‘boss’ about a year ago. He was 31yrs old. I’d had him since he was 11yrs. I bought him for meat money as he’d been injured whilst at stud. He was my best friend he heard about all my worries. I’m sure he understood every word verbal and non verbal. I only had to think what I wanted and he did it. There will only ever be one ‘boss’ and there will always only be one ‘baby’, Boss was cared for like a cotton wool kid and he knew he was on to a good thing. Take Care x
