Where in the World are the Westfall’s?

You may have heard that we sold our house. Many of you have questions like:

“What will happen to Jac?” (he will come with me)

“Will you still blog?” (yes, and it might even get more exciting)

And “Where are you going?” (this one is a bit more complicated)

We are going to try living nomadically for awhile.

I know we are heading to TX in Feb for a few months but after that we are pretty

house viewwide open to ideas! Visiting friends in PA…visiting CO…really, we are not sure.

Dani on Facebook sent the suggestion to visit  Salt Creek Ranch in Vail Valley…CO. Wow. Sounds like a fun place to visit!

Colorado ranch

While we have some ideas in mind we are still open to ideas and suggestions. So if you have any thoughts feel free to leave a comment below. We will likely be traveling with six horse and WILL have three kids too!

Mullet Hall Equine facility in Charleston County, SC. Great horse and people accommodations. Great in winter, buggy in the summer.

  18. Michelle fleming on January 9, 2014 at 9:23 pm

Hi Stacy. You should visit the black hills wild horse sanctuary in hot springs South Dakota when you are in that area. Dayton Hyde has a wonderful program about conservation and saving the wild mustang. As a horse owner it’s quite an awesome experience to see these horses in their natural habitat. And you can camp right there on the property. Sincerely, michelle fleming mt. Gilead, ohio

I’m guessing you have income producing business lined up for this stint at nomadic? If so, your landing spots should be including housing and pasture. If not, you need to fire your business manager.

Northwestern Montana is a beautiful place. We live just outside Glacier National park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness. There is a large equine community here that would welcome you and your family! (I also have a VERY difficult case that I could use some help with if you came this way 🙂 )

  27. LeeAnne Bell on January 9, 2014 at 9:20 pm

NE Wyoming. I have a place that would accommodate your family and horses.

  28. Ingvill Ramberg on January 9, 2014 at 9:17 pm

I think it would be an honor to have you all join the Woodloch family for a while! Please check out our website, we have a successful 200 acre boarding ( about 100 stalls), training and lesson facility in Hugo Minnesota( 25 min. North of St.Paul) and are big fans of Stacy and her work. We are a very social barn with a solid foundation and good horseman as well as people skills. We have old and young people ride and are a barn that practice several disciplines. Owners and managers,Bill and Ingvill, also have 3 children between the ages of 9 and 14. ~ 3 kids and 6 horses is no problem!
    Please check us out 🙂

If your any where near the University of Massachusetts in Amherst this spring you should come and talk to the Equine Industries majors. I’m a senior in the program and would love to here what you have to say about your experience working with horses.

  32. Jordan O'Neal on January 9, 2014 at 9:15 pm

Dubois Wyoming! Or Lander WY! Their pretty much central within the state, close to Yellowstone, a lot of rodeos, and quite a bit of breeding/training!

I think what you have in your future is so exciting. I know your Dad would be so supportive of what you are doing. Life is so short and you only get one chance to experience what is out there I no n this wide world take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy. My only suggestion is keep a record of all that by you do you will enjoy looking back on your experience and there is always something you will forget if you don’t write it down.
All the best to all of you

Could always come to canada we’d gladly welcome yu with open arms!

    • Janice Shanks on January 10, 2014 at 2:17 am

Should you decide to go to Canada through Montana, we live about 50 miles from the Canadian boarder not far from one of the highways to a boarder crossing. Would be happy to put you, your family and horses up if needing a place to stay for awhile. We live only 10 miles from a huge Fort Peck Lake inn Northeastern Montana.

  38. Leslie Emery on January 9, 2014 at 9:09 pm

Why not Sarasota Florida. Many Buckeyes down here and the horses love year round outside activity I will babysit!

  39. Judith Brady on January 9, 2014 at 9:08 pm

  41. Nikki B on January 9, 2014 at 9:06 pm

Any chance you might come for Equitana in Australia this Nov or in 2015? Missed you last time 🙁

  42. Jodi on January 9, 2014 at 9:06 pm

It would be wonderful if you could find a reason to visit Northern Virginia, and all the horse people up here. Not a lot of Western riders besides myself. There are maybe two primarily Western places, Marriott Ranch being one, but lots of horses and horse lovers. Middleburg. VA, is a pretty little town to visit and there are a lot of big stables around. Would be cool to introduce your style of training to this area!

  43. K Jeffries on January 9, 2014 at 9:05 pm

What are you going to do about food for horses? Are you buying along the way or taking a bunch with you?

    • Stacy on January 9, 2014 at 9:27 pm

Taking the grain and enough hay to get started. Then we will transition them to the hay there.

  44. Brenna Williamson on January 9, 2014 at 9:05 pm

  46. Juli Russell on January 9, 2014 at 9:03 pm

Stacy, I am wondering what you plan to do regarding school for your kids…I assume you will be homeschooling…I am wondering what curriculum or online school you will be using…have you homeschooled previously?

    • Stacy on January 9, 2014 at 9:07 pm

We homeschool. We did when they were young…then they went to school. Then in 2010 we took them out for the World Equestrian Games and Roxy’s last performance (homeschooled). We home schooled last year and this year because we knew the house was on the market. They go once a week but that won’t happened once we move. We mostly use Sonlight with a mix of some other stuff. I need to do a full blog on it sometime:)

      • melody on January 9, 2014 at 9:14 pm

You just have it all going on…..wow you are amazing……………………….

      • Lee Shelstad on January 10, 2014 at 8:11 am

Hey Stacy…we homeschooled our kids too, that is also where we got into horses and ministry. If you all are north, MN that is, it would be awesome to have you come on up, and we could arrange a special day with kids to come that we minister to around our community. With your 6 horses, mine and your family we could do what we do best…let me know by email. What a blessing it would be to have you!

  48. Liz bailey on January 9, 2014 at 9:02 pm

On your way through PA and need a place to stay we are in Gettysburg pa and can give your family and horses a place to stay!!

  49. Madison Lanaghan on January 9, 2014 at 9:01 pm

Come do a clinic in Billings, MT!!!

    • Janice Shanks on January 10, 2014 at 2:11 am

Yes, it’s 4 1/2 hours from us as we live in the Northeastern corner of Montana, but would love to attend one of your clinic’s. We also have 240 acres and would be glad to put you, your family and horses up if you needed a resting spot, or are heading to Canada. Also have daughter and husband who live in the North Eastern corner of South Dakota that live on a ranch, raising registered Red Angus Cattle and Quarter Horses. They have sponsored various clinics and if you’re in their area, I’m sure would also put you up and quite possibly sponsor a clinic if it worked out you were traveling to or from somewhere near.

How about a stint in New Zealand?

    • Stacy on January 9, 2014 at 9:09 pm

Lol, we actually said that just a few days ago! We were saying we wanted to go to Australia again and this time hop over and visit New Zealand. Anything to make the stay longer, it took me forever to change to the timezone!

      • Joe Ann keslar on January 9, 2014 at 9:43 pm

When you get to Colorado you may as well come up to Wyoming. We have room for you and also rev hookups if you need them. Would love to have you.

    • Sarah on January 10, 2014 at 1:30 am

Haha I was just about to comment with New Zealand also 🙂
