Democracy IS bad; a Republic is MUCH better. But a country can be a Republic without the Electoral College.

it does seem unfair when the popular vote does not have the same results as the electoral vote. but it’s rare. i think 3 times in 220+ years is not bad for the popular vote to lose out to to the electoral college vote..and when it does, it is extremely close. Bush in 2000 won the electoral vote and lost the popular vote, but not by much. Obama won both by a lot this year.
my questions are, i wonder if going to individual voting would really make a difference in the numbers of people voting?? i wonder if the electoral voting system tries to make up somewhat for that loss of participation?
there was nothing mentioned about land mass in the video and i had learned in school that it also was a factor in the reason for the electoral college–land mass being an important part of american enterprise: farming, ranching, conservation, oil, natural gas, metals, etc

Very interesting. This video is extremely biast.

Kay the vote has aways been this way just fyi and the people do decide they have all along.

The electoral colage is a good thing. The founding fathers weren’t stupid! Contrary to popuar belief our country is a democratic republic, meaning that some things are decded by the people, some by the government some together. If we didn’t have the electral college we would be a democracy. We are NOT a democracy! And we do not want to become one which is what would happen to us if we get rid of the electoral college. Ancient Rome was a democracy, look what happened to them! Or look at Greece. We DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO US!!! We need to have the Electoral College to protect our form of government.

Please think, really think about this!

Thank you for sharing this. I have felt that the electoral votes are not fair for a long time and wish that it was changed. I work the elections and feel that it is so hard to tell each person to come and vote because you might make the difference by your one vote! We need to be able to vote to change this unfair way! And go back to the vote of the people!
