Life Law #9

Life Law #9: There is power in forgiveness.

Strategy: Open your eyes to what anger and resentment are doing to you.

This is an interesting Law to apply to horses. I forgive horses pretty easily…but that is different than forgetting. With horses I find it pretty easy to get past holding a grudge but I do try to hear what they told me. For example if a horse has a tenancy to lose focus, become distracted, it is my job to help him through that. Holding a grudge won’t help. Most people hold a grudge, not because of the horse directly, but because the horse is standing in the way of their goal. For example if they wish to go on a nice quiet trail ride but the horse is constantly distracted, taking away from the ride, they get angry. The goal of the trail ride may not be compatible with that horse at that time. One of those things will need to change-the goal or which horse is used.

Sometimes for me it helps to identify why I am feeling angry or resentful so I can track it down to something I can control like my goal because in the end the only thing you can change is yourself.

I find this law is so very true with all aspects of life, And wheather or not I’m dealing with humans or horses or both, I alway remember to CHECK MY ADDITUDE AT THE GATE, which allows me to more easily forgive and move on.
