I Hope I Can Can, I Think I Can Can, I Know I Can Can

My husband has perfect timing.

As we drove home from Kentucky with an empty horse trailer he reminded me that we still have Vaquero with us in a way. Standing in our pasture are some reminders of him. You see Vaquero’s mom was Can Can Lena who was out of a mare named Can Can Dyna. His name was TSW Can Can Vaquero.

We decided to keep the ‘Can Can’ in the names but in a slightly different way. So some of his foals include:

I Think I Can Can

I Can Can You

I Know I Can Can

Vaquero has eight foals that carry on his name. When the time comes to ride them my wish is that they will remind me of their dad….at least I hope they can can:)

The only way I know you is through your videos. They are a tribute to how well you communicate with the horses you ride. Truly, these horses were blessed by that communication and the love those partnerships show. Yes, they are gone, but thanks to you, they will not be quickly forgotten. And you are still here to show other horses (and hopefully us uninformed) how that communication can be achieved.

You can can–and please don’t limit your talents to just them. God will provide; just bring the rest of us the joy of watching them perform.

I was one of the individuals who won your name the foal contest back in 2010. My submission was Catch me if you can can. I hope that foal is living up to it’s potential and I look forward to hearing what is next for that baby.
Good luck on your move West. You just follow your heart, it will lead you to where you should be. I know that people out here in California will surely welcome you here if that is where you end up! When I read your posts on losing Vaquero it deeply touches my heart and I understand what you are feeling. I lost the horse of my dreams to an accident back in the mid 80’s and I miss him still. I have not had another who could come close to what he meant to me. I have had others who are truly wonderful in their own right, but he still has my heart.

One thing I learned through prayer during a dire health crisis my husband had, everyone says that God will not give you more than you can handle. That is not true! The truth is, God gives you the STRENGTH to handle whatever comes – good or bad. It is up to you to TRUST in HIM and that strength to get you through it. Once you realize that ~ there is a peace you will feel even in the toughest situations.
God Bless you and your family. I hope to meet you again some day. I met you at the Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento a few years ago, I had the Equicizer you used in your booth that year. I now have my own horse magazine. HONEST HORSES MAGAZINE. check us out sometime, we have a web site and Facebook page as well. You can always reach me through the web site too.

Is it just me, or do those colts in the picture have Vaquero’s eyes? (:

  4. Janet on May 13, 2012 at 12:38 pm

I know you can and it will be interesting to see how his little one’s spin, and see what level they take you next. When I watch Vaquero’s ability to move and spin it will be interesting to see what genes have been transferred down.to his offspring. What a great learning opportunity he has given us.

We know you CAN. The girls and I are heart broken. I even had Keith looking at the xrays to see if he had any ideas. I know GOD has given us theses animals for our enjoyment and we have had so many animals that I know have added such joy to our lives. Our horses, kittys, and dogs, have helped us through these last few month with Keith’s battle with cancer. We do not understand everything but we do know that God is in control. God is good and all things are for His Glory. We are thankful for our many blessing and the time he gives us with each one of our family members, our friends, and our animals. They all bring joy to life. We look and Westy and can not help but to see Vaquero and think of you. She is one of our joys and blessings. Thank you for sharing.
A special friend of our family, sends us a thought and verse each day., I wanted to share this one.Lord, order my steps today. Make me strong, not for the sake of possessing strength, but to make me sufficient for the crisis moments in my life and in the lives of other who reach out to me.

They will remind you of their Dad. I have standardbreds and breed my stallion, who is registered in California. Every one of his babies has one characteristic or another from their Daddy. It is more often attitude and demeanor, but sometimes it is a look or their eye. It is passed on. God’s peace with your loss, but look towards the future!

You can can, you know you can! With God’s help you could probably train a mule to do that, so get busy! We’ll be waiting.

    Good Morning Stacy,
When I walked over to look at the youngsters on Thursday, I could see Vaqueros’s eyes especially in the youngest one.
    Hope to see you soon.
