How to stay grounded.

What keeps you grounded? I have mentioned staying balanced in a recent post and I think being grounded helps. For me, in this stage of my life, one thing that keeps me grounded is my family, my kids.

So the night before I am to show at the Congress I am done and driving home…and Jesse calls. He tells me that our son Caleb, has a very, very rapid heart beat.

Let me say that any stress I was feeling about the horse show evaporated. What is a horse show compared to your child’s health?

Long story short staying grounded is a great way to keep your life in balance. And if any of you have personal experience with SVT (the heart thing) please post or send me an email. They are recommending surgery and I would love to know more from people who have dealt with this.

If it is the ablation thing you’re talking about, I had it three weeks ago. I’ve got lots of information and would be more than happy to talk to you or share information about it. I’d be happy to tell you in a less public forum about what all I had and how it came out. Just let me know if I can be of support.

It is an easy to fix thing and surgery makes it sound massive, but many people have this and it has to be fixed. Ablation is one simple fix…prayers for the right decisions!

Hi Stacy , Your son will be fine. Dont even let that surgery thought take root ! I just happened to run into your husband yesterday at the Love’s truckstop in Columbia Tn. He is a super nice guy. I talked to him for a little while and he said that you were back at home in Ohio. I was really looking forward to seeing you when I caught that truck in my view ! Anyway , I am a most definite believer in Matthew 18 verses 19-20. The power of an impartation through a touch. ( anointing ). I know in my heart that you guys are christians . JESUS still heals no different than he did when he walked this earth. I shook hands with Jesse . I am praying that we three agree that your son IS ! (not will be ) totally healed. You and Jesse lay your hands on him and simply use that name (JESUS). I love you guys. You truly are two of the best there is. Some of these video games now are horrible and can cause fear in kids. My email is TB172@LIVE.COM or Marion Troy Brown on Facebook. I hope to hear a good report from you guys. You are so Blessed . Tell Jesse I said hello again and it was a true honor. Your friend , MTB ……

I will be praying for your family Stacy…I know He will be with you all through this and help to keep you grounded. Family is the most important thing in life. God has helped me with all the health problems i have had and has helped tremendously to keep me grounded during the hardest of times. Please don’t think the worst(surgery) until you have all the facts and options in line. I have a rapid heart rate myself but was never recommended surgery for it since some people do have this. Just something they like to keep an eye on. Again, prayers to you and your family. Please keep us updated!

I don’t have any experience with SVT but I do have experience with the free-falling feeling of terror when my child is hurt or being rushed to the hospital. In the one situation I’m thinking of (post-surgery complications when my daughter was 6 years old and we had to rush her to Children’s Hospital in the middle of the night) – the coping mechanisms I used were to focus on my breathing a lot, and in some situations I actually put my hand on my abdomen right below my belly-button and breathed into my hand. The other was to consciously put any “what if” thoughts out of my mind and focus on the moment. What needed to be done right now? What was the doctor saying we should be doing now? I focused on concrete physical actions – even if it was just resting, because the “what ifs” in my head were too overwhelming and made me feel like I couldn’t function. When we didn’t have anything to do but rest and wait I would visualize relaxing things (for me, kayaking, riding my horse) and I would actively force myself to do that – actually fighting myself to – so as not to go into the “what ifs” about the future. For me praying for strength and comfort to handle whatever happened and trusting I would be given that strength to handle anything helped a lot too.I hope something from this long comment helps a little. I’m sorry your family is going through this.

Not too sure about irregular heart beats but what I do know is that one does not simply ‘have’ an operation, an operation is ‘earned’. In other words every othetr avenue should be investigated and the operation/ surgery is the absolute last resort!

Stacy, There are things that come up in life that throw you and also put things in perspective. We had our own go around with that this past week. Will keep you and your family in our prayers.

I have no personal experience but I found a website with people writing about their experiences. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Heart-Disease/What-to-expect-post-op-SVT-ablation-surgery/show/306393 Hope it could help you.

Stacy I will pray for you and we will pray for your son. Do not be afraid. This is a common issue and we will pray the doctors will have wisdom to get to the bottom of it. You have an anchor. Hold on to it.
