For me the Super Bowl means commercials and especially commercials featuring horses. Naturally, Budweiser dominates this market. This year I think the commercial is great…but I LOVE that they have also included two ‘behind the scene’ videos. The last one here includes a clip of the horse trainer.
Did you know the hitch is made up of all geldings which stand about 18 hands (about 6 feet) at the shoulder and weigh between 2,000 and 2,300 pounds?
I took my photo with some of the Budweiser horses this summer. We both happened to overnight at the same place. These guys are HUGE…unfortunately I can’t find any of the photos. Guess I will have to make a plan to visit with them again. I’ve driven a team of minis…I wonder what it would be like to drive this full hitch?

Why do i always have to cry????
While they are beautiful to see, both on TV and in person, they are simply amazing to watch in action! I don’t mean just walking a parade route. Seeing them “parallel park”, backing to a loading dock, and all the other maneuvers that were needed when they carried loads the way tractor trailers do today, is beyond fascinating. I can’t imagine holding all those reins and asking the individual horses to move exactly as needed!
Yes, I loved the commercial also.. Always a little tear or two. I have driven a four horse hitch of Belgians and that was fun.. Mind you my friend was right beside me ..they are one of his teams. I think if I had one wish it would be to spend a week with the Bud team or at the farm for a week.. and yes..I would even muck stalls..lol
I love all the stories and films but the I learned the most from the history video and how it all started after the Prohibition!!
Couldn’t care less about the superbowl. But it’s great Obama brought back homebrew beer in the White House for this occasion! Cheers!

If you really want the WOW factor chek out “navan fair 50 horse hitch”. It is a world record.. Believe me the ground shook that day. It was an amazing feat of horsemanship.

The Budwiser team was in Chicago For a parade& boarded the horses @ the stable I board at. They.are amazing horses. One of the horses was in a stall next to my horse that is 16h. The Clydesdale made him look like a pony! Such nice people & super trained horses. The dog (dalmation) was there also. He has his own stall & stays in the barn with the horses.
I too, met the Clydesdales this fall. Bucket List….check. They. Are. Amazing.
I always enjoy seeing what story line the Budweiser Commercials will use. They never disappoint. The wolf they used did his job just as well as the puppies and the wonderful Clydesdales. They are a spectacular breed, I used to help a friend with his 6 horse hitch of black Clydesdales before he died. I was always in awe of these gentle giants, wonderful horses to be around.
I love how friendly the wolf looked in the behind the scenes, lol.
